DIY Travel Journal

Hello there! I hope everything is well with you people ☺️

I always wanted to have my own travel journal. I am not so good in writing a procedure (not good at writing at all! Haha nagfe-feeling lang!) but I would love to share how I did my journal.

After few times of browsing and checking on Pinterest, I had a strong feeling of making my own. Why? First, the popular Midori Travel Journal is expensive. Don’t get me wrong, I love it so much. If I could, I would love to buy one for me one day. But because of circumstances, I cannot afford a 25-40 dollars journal.

ctto:

So, I have to make another option– Do-It-Yourself.

Second, I am really a journal lover. I have learned that nowadays, people make different kinds of journal and it was a good idea that we have separate journal for our random thoughts, verse of the day and prayer, Daily to-do-list journal or planner, and a Travel Journal, where you keep records of memories and places you went to. You can also write the places you wanted to go and make it your goal.

Travel journal isn’t only for people who travel all the time, out of town or country trips. You can also use this when you go places within your vicinity. For example, I just want to go to Starbucks. Since I live in Aruba, where surrounded by beautiful beaches, I can go there and take a picture, print it/them before or after going to SB and write about my thoughts. It doesn’t have to be out of the country all the time. So don’t make it like “Oh this is only for travelers” Nah.. I strongly believe this is for everybody who doesn’t want to stay at home the whole day and make his/her day fun and memorable.

Okay! Lets begin… (daldal ko e no?haha)

Materials Needed:

  • Foam (Color of your choice)
  • White papers
  • Specialty papers
  • Wrapper
  • Elastic bands
  • Stapler
  • Sewing Kit
  • Ruler
  • Scissor
  • Washi tapes (optional)
  • Printer (optional)

As you can see, I couldn’t find an elastic bands so I used my choker with bling bling. 😂 (it would be great if you have elastic)

Procedure:

1. Make inserts first.

I am not gonna lie, google is my best friend. Everyone’s best friend. I searched for the dimensions.

You can use this size for the inserts. But you can also make your own.

For me, I just fold the letter size white paper lengthwise and measure vertically (21cm) and then cut the excess.

You can also follow the dimensions from Midori Traveler’s Notebook.

The quantity of papers to use is upto to you, Midori has 32sheets. I only used 10sheets because this is my first time doing it, I do not know if I will be able to use it properly. I didn’t want to waste the papers. But the good thing is, you can add more anytime.

2. Cut and Pile them.

After you measure, cut the excess of the paper and insert one by one.

3. Staple

4. Cover

Since I do not have a leather, I used foam. I watched videos on Youtube for the procedure of this:

As I have said, I used my choker for this. But I would suggest to buy an elastic band.

It’s actually upto you how long or wide you want your journal. You can make any adjustment with this.

When it’s ready, carefully add the 4 inserts. 5. Optional: Printable Dot/Grid Paper

I searched for a free Dotted paper. And I found this one from SavorAndSavvy It’s so cool. I don’t own that. It helped me with my new journal. Thank you! She has free printables for planners or bullet journaling. Check it out!

You can always choose a style on your notebook. If you want it plain, let it be. If you want to use specialty paper, dotted paper, go ahead. Be free to create something new.

I think that’s really the fun part, you learn from others, get idead from others and try to be creative on your own. ❤️

And there you go.

Bring your journal wherever you go, keep records on whats happening around you, take pictures, save the little papers whether a receipt from the restaurant you ate at, the tickets from the movies you watched, the plane tickets, the stamp from the places you went to, write your thoughts & experiences and.. yeah! Explore the world.

Handcrafted is heart-made. Make your own travel journal! ❤️

God’s Surprise #5 North Carolina

I am so grateful for all of these things happened in my life. I literally don’t have the budget to travel. But I call this — God’s favor. I was down and depressed for past years but the Lord helped me get up and begin again.

I got to see places I couldn’t imagine I would be able to. The Lord has proven His faithfulness to me. Yes, it is great to have a good paying job, work hard, be diligent and have determination. But the past years were not so good for me, living in a foreign country. I couldn’t do what I want to, I couldn’t get the job I want to. I had to be strong and silently being brave. I would admit that there were days that I wanted to give up but the Lord re-opened my eyes once again.

I felt bad that I couldn’t trust him that much during those times. I only see the negative things in my life. It’s not me. I wasn’t myself and I wanted to get up. So I asked God for help but at the same time, I decided to get up. It is a decision only you can make. I have to be clear that even I serve Him, there were days that problems and trials overwhelm me and anxiety and depression take over. But I believe that God is fighting for us. So here I am, still alive and fighting.

I believed again. I hoped and this is it. God has shown me that my circumstances don’t define me. 2017 was an eye opener for me that HE can do impossible things possible. I live in Aruba for six years and I am thankful that I survived and still surviving.

I got to see the US for the second time. This time was a little bit longer. Since I don’t have any responsibility I was able to visit the US, most of the days in South Carolina. I was in the US for five months. Wow. I am really grateful for God’s favor.

God never ceased to amaze me, huh? I had surprises from Him all the time and I am loving it! Before going back to Aruba, he let me see part of North Carolina.

  1. Down Town Asheville, North Carolina

We went to Downtown Asheville, historical place. I am not really good at HISTORY, you know? So I am not here to tell what happened in that place HAHA :)But what I love about history areas is you get to see and walk where important events took place.  I will try next time to learn about the places I went to. For now, I want to share how it looks like somehow.

Thought they were at a rally. I was only gonna take pictures of the building. You know, believe it or not, I am not used to noisy place anymore. I lived in the Philippines for 26 years, I managed to live in a city. But for 6 years in Aruba, where it’s quiet and peaceful, island life and called ‘One Happy Island’, I got shocked seeing people walking around, horning their cars loudly. There’s this car who stopped in a pedestrian lane, so the people were kinda mad at her, they’re giving her strange look. We happened to cross the road and I was talking to Mommy about something and raised my hand pointing to something else, the driver thought I was saying something to her like “Why did you stop here?” Of course, I didn’t say that even it was on my mind. So she started to curse and call me “Bitch”. I had to laugh, looked at Mum and Uncle Mike and they smiled. I hope Nathan, my seven-year-old brother didn’t hear it. We kept walking and on the other pedestrian where people are crossing headed to us, a lady was crossing with a dog on a leash, she was wearing a blouse, an underwear and cardigan, while she was walking you can see the side of her treasure. I don’t usually care how people dress, if that makes them happy, I really don’t mind but of course, I have eyes. Followed by a sports car who drives recklessly and music on playing so loud. OMG. And I suddenly whispered “Welcome to the city”

One thing I realized is I am not a ‘city person’. I prefer tranquility. It’s good to visit places and see huge buildings and many people at times. But I got used to Aruba vibes and I prefer a quiet and peaceful place. It’s not a perfect place all the time. But I think God let me see this another side of life for me to appreciate where I am.

I love music so I took pictures to one of the bands in the street. I also noticed that there are a lot of homeless people. It’s a new thing for Nathan, North Augusta, South Carolina isn’t like this, it’s quiet there. So here in North Carolina is different. I enjoyed it though.

I was amused by this food place. Giant Spiders look real. My childlike character showed up quickly as soon as I see them. The idea was great. Clap clap to the owner.

2. The Blue Ridge Mountains

This is the main reason why we were in North Carolina. Uncle Mike and MOmmy want me to see the beauty of it, not only the mountains but at least it’s about time where leaves are changing. They said some call it ‘leafing’ during Fall Season. It was a long drive, though. But it was really fun especially spent with loved ones.

We went first to Blue Ridge Parkway, where you can get directions and of course souvenirs. I started to collect magnets from places I went to.

I actually don’t want to show my face anymore. The background is more important when you travel. HAHA. Am I right? But yeah, I would still like my face to be seen at times.

Inside, you can see and read the history. As I have said I am not so good at collecting information. I wish I am that kind of person who can give you accurate history. We’ll be like that one day. HAHA 🙂 But Blue Ridge Parkway/Mountain is also known as “America’s Favorite Drive”

I love nature. And I can’t explain how it felt seeing the beauty around me. God is so good. His creation was amazing. Like, God, you’re here. The work of His hands is wonderful.

6d44b7c5cc5f28de-photo

Do you see that? The green leaves becoming red. Well, it’s my first time to experience this. 🙂 I’m so happy, though I couldn’t see them all changed. I’m still amazed.

As we went further, we got to see this.

What I loved more is the weather. It was cold there. I loved it!

I’m really grateful for the experience. God is so good. To God be the glory.

Truly, God never ceased to amaze us. I know this happened the last year October 2017, I am so late but I am still determined to share things I experienced. For me, they are miracles and favor of the Lord. His surprises are the best. I will be forever grateful!

It’s me,

God’s Surprise #4 Solar Eclipse

Yes, I am so late in posting this. Haha I am sorry. 2017 was so great to me that I wanted to share good things happened.

I am so happy that I got to experience Solar Eclipse with my little brother and my mom. I live in Aruba but that day I was in the US for vacation. SO I am blessed to see that for the first time.

IMG_5264

I am not a photographer so I wasn’t able to take good pictures during that day. But I am just thankful that I got to see it. 🙂

God’s Surprise #3 Kari Jobe

One of my prayer lists is to attend a christian concert. I visited Mommy in the US for few months, while I was browsing on Facebook, I saw a post from Kari Jobe announcing her ‘The Garden’ Tour. My mom lives in South Carolina so I asked her where Aiken is. She said it’s only 15-20 minutes away from their place. And I begged her “Mommy please, I wanna attend Kari Jobe’s concert”

To make the long story short. Me and my mom got to see her and worshiped with her. I cried because I couldn’t believe that it was actually happening. I sent a message to my worship team in Aruba and told them the good news. I went live on Facebook so they could also see. Well, for others this is just a small thing but for me it is a big thing. BLESSING!

I admire Kari so much. I like her heart towards God. She loves Jesus so much. She inspired me through her voice and songs. God bless her. I don’t idolize her, I am just grateful that during my vacation at mommy’s I would experience more of God’s love. First, the Disney World, second – Jollibee and now this… got to see her and worshiped with her. God is so good.

Kari Jobe is so beautiful inside and out.

God’s Surprise #2: Jollibee

Good times.

Nagbukas ng Jollibee sa may Jacksonville, Florida nun mga nakaraang buwan. Pauwi kami galing sa Disney at nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na makadaan kami doon. Well, actually talagang sinadyang pumunta. Kung ako ay 5years ago pa nakatikim nito, ang aking mommy ay na-excite din. It’s been ages for her nung huli sya nakapunta. Talaga namang para akong bata tuwang tuwa ako. Grabe!

Woah! Ang babaw ng kaligayahan e no? But really… I am grateful!

God’s Surprise #1: Walt Disney World

Besides from his provision to travel here in the US, attended a conference in Georgia, meet new people there, this Disney experience was unexpected. After Georgia events, I went straight to South Carolina where my mom lives.

Celebrating my little brother’s birthday, he turned 7, we went to Disney World. Woah, we traveled like 10-12 hours by car. That was a long crazy drive.

IMG_3872

Hindi mo maiikot ang buong Disney World in one or two days. We had a two-day trip in Disney. Though I wasn’t able to see everything, I am still very happy with this experience and I would love to share this with you. There are four Theme Parks in Walt Disney World: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They have a new one: Pandora-The World of Avatar, I believe. They have Water Parks as well: Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach.

If you plan to visit Disney, a week or two is advisable if you want to go to all the theme parks. It’s a vast place, you can’t just walk around and see everything in one day. You should really have a good plan if you want to experience every attraction. It’s very tiring but if you are adventurous and have child-like heart and strength, then you are good to go. And of course the finances, one tip is ‘do not stay on a Disney Resorts or Hotel’, they’re expensive. If you could find cheap hotels outside Disney, that would be great to not spend a lot of money during your vacation.

We tour around the Magic Kingdom in two days.

IMG_3868

This Disney tram will bring you to the monorail, monorail to the theme park you are headed to.

That feeling of excitement is rushing over me as soon as I see the entrance. HAHA I’m like a kid

IMG_3897
You’ll be given a card to have an access to attractions. You can select up to 3 FastPass+ reserved in advance. The rest is you have to come to heel, waiting time depends, sometimes an hour.

The first place to take picture,

IMG_3912

Well, of course, picture…picture! 🙂 with the chipmunks!

Telling you, you will feel like a kid again. No matter what age you are, you will feel young when you enter Disney. I loved it!

IMG_4528
What a magical experience! 🙂

We all have our goals and deepest desires wanted to attain, sometimes we share them with others, sometimes we keep them to ourselves. Last January, I wrote my prayers and goals for the year in my journal, some kinda bucket list. And again, just like last year, I wrote and expected an ‘unexpected blessing’ for this year. I was challenged to write more, you know? Truly, God answers prayers, why not ask more? He is a great God.

It’s all good to have plans and fulfill them one by one but what I was looking forward to is on how the Lord will lavish His love for me by surprising me with the things or situations I didn’t even ask for. His surprise is surprisingly overwhelming. He freely gives because I am deeply loved by Him, so you are. We are loved by God. Whether you are faithful or unfaithful, He will love you unconditionally.

That. I expected this, the amazing work of His hand in my life.

Unexpected but planned by Him. He already had this on his mind. I am still in awe up to this point. Sharing stories of my life was actually not my thing, I even wrote some of my very personal life such as career, love life and family when started blogging. I realized I had to speak to show others that GOD is real. And through my own stories, I wanna be a blessing. I just love how the Lord move through my life that I could be able to survive all the dramas I went through. We all have situations in life that made us feel seems nothing is going right, in different forms, we all struggled. But “Look at the brighter side”.

So, I want to share some of God’s surprises in my life these past few months. Recently I posted about how the Lord has been providing continually that he even let me travel here in the U.S.A. without worrying the fare and accommodation. Isn’t he amazing? HE PROVIDES.

“No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true.”

-Cinderella

It’s just amazing how the Lord answered my prayer.  I wrote in my bucket list and without even thinking about how I will fulfill them, one of my desires is to see Disney. God reminded me that HE can make impossible things possible. Can you imagine?I didn’t specify which Disney and yet he let me see Walt Disney WORLD.

This  is not really my own strength. How can I travel without a job? How the Lord give me this multiple-visa, when talking about finances, I am not qualified. In people’s mind, I am not really qualified. But here’s the thing: “When God says Yes, No one can stop Him”  He has his own unique ways and fulfilling His promises to His children. I only and prayed with an expectant heart. Truly, there is a time for everything.

I love surprises and God did it so well. I am loved and highly favored. To God be the glory.

***This was in my draft few months ago. Catching up!  I am so excited to share the rest of God’s love in my life. Thank you for reading.

Unexpected But Planned-Part 2

Unexpected But Planned Part 1

I never thought I will be doing international ministry. I was only planning to join them and get some lessons and expectant for Gods revelations in my life. But I loved it when he calls you to do something impromptu, and yet it turned out great because you did it for Him, for His glory.

I and with some of the leaders of our church in Aruba attended a General Conference of Congregational Holiness Church, our mother church in Georgia. It was held in Gainesville, GA. God had been busy revealing many things to me. Excitingly, he let me see not only one state.

Places/State we went to:

  1. Gainesville, Georgia
  2. Alabama
  3. Helen, Georgia – Anna Ruby Falls
  4. Cleveland, Georgia – Cabbage Patch Kids
  5. Atlanta, Georgia – Stone Mountain, Hyatt Regency

Alabama

Our pastor, Ptr Roel Tangco was assigned to preach in CHC Alabama. It was a great experience. His wife and I were able to lead a worship song as well. Unexpected. God is so good, I love God’s surprises.

IMG_2813

While on the road, I was in my thoughts. “God, you are amazing. I love doing things for you. I feel like I am fulfilling what I am called. Thank you for the opportunity!”

Does a good career will make you feel successful, fulfilled? I don’t think so. I heard this from my sister Queen when we talk about ministries “Success is doing what God wants you to do” You’ll only feel the satisfaction in your life if you know in your heart that you are doing what God wants you to do.

What a joy we have in Jesus.

God says, “I will use you mightily if you are willing. Make yourself available.”

We, churchmates from Aruba met the Pastor and wife from this church in Alabama

It was a great Sunday Worship Service.

Helen, Georgia

            Anna Ruby Falls

They didn’t only bring us to the conference for the spritual matter, they brought us also to some places to see attractions. God bless them. We went to Anna Ruby Falls. Nice View 🙂IMG_2786

Sorry for my chubby face and body. I love myself HAHA

While walking going to the water falls, God reminded me of His Word.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalm 23

I will never lack anything because God is my provider. The green trees remind me of His peace in my darkest days. He never let me fall, he chases me all the time and when I tend to go the wrong way, the other way, he never let me get lost. The woods represent the distraction in our life, we may go in a different way but He will show the path right back to His presence, secured, loved, peaceful, where I belong. He corrects me and teaches me, it may be a hard discipline but He does that to mold me, to make me a better one.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life”

              Cabbage Patch Kids

A doll in a cabbage. It’s cool how this attraction was created. Read the Legend of the Cabbage Patch Kids on their official site. But really dolls here are for sale, they are actually adopted by people. When you buy, they will give you baby’s birth certificate. It is a perfect place for babies and kids who want to adopt a baby doll.

       Georgia – Peach Market/Farm

Georgia is known as Peach State. We went here just to have some fresh peach ice cream. They also sell strawberries, apples etc. I was just focused on peach, I wasn’t able to check other products they have. But what good about here is, they’re fresh.

               Free Chapel Worship Center

Attended Worship Service at Free Chapel. They are amazing! It’s my second time seeing Pastor Jentezen Franklin, an American pastor, author and can be seen on television too. He is the senior Pastor of Free Chapel Worship Center. He is a great preacher.

It was Father’s day when we attended the service. He encouraged the fathers to be a Man of Word, a man that obeys His Word so they could be a good example for their children. Truly, that the Word, the Bible is the lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Love his heart. God bless him!

This experience was a blast! I  thank God for everything. God is so good. When God plans, it is always the best. One thing I am challenged to do, expect more from HIM. He is a great God! HE can do great things. Dare to believe!

Thank you for reading!
